Skyfang awoke with a start. It was storming. He hated storms. Breathing heavily he looked around the den, slightly embarrassed. Thank Cloudclan he was only taking a midday nap. The blue-eyed Siberian stared out at the rain. Despite the thunder, the rain pouring down was oddly soothing. He knew that he had to leave soon or do something productive. The clan needed him. He probably had to go hunting soon, but he wanted the rain to stop. Maybe he could do something to pass the time. Socialize perhaps? He could not tell if anyone was nearby. The den reeked of cat so scents were generally masked in the area. He put his forelegs out in front of him and stretched luxuriously and let out a yawn. It was another day here in Iceclan.

Another day of storms. Redheart mumbled under his breath, detesting the fact that he would probably be stuck in the camp for the day. Another day of being cooped up in here. Another day of not being able to go out and find his sister. His sister. Wherever she was. He recently dreamt of her. That she was still alive. That there was hope...
He looked up from his thoughts and saw a larger cat in the sen with him who was actually not sleeping for once. He grinned and stood up, walking over to the stranger. Stranger. Hah. He should know everyone in the clan, but in reality, he did not really socialize. He was more the type to stay to himself.
"How long do you think it's going to be like this?" he asked.
Another cat. Wonderful. At least he had someone to talk to. Besides with this rain what else was there to do. "I doubt it will stop soon, but the rain is needed." The ground had been very dry lately and that wasn't good for the prey. As long as there was lush vegetation in the area there would be plenty of food for the clan. He was frankly annoyed at the weather. "I assume you don't want to go out in that mess either." An introduction could wait a minute. He wanted to see what the other cat had to say.

Redheart grinned. "Yes, we really needed the rain, especially with a hot weather like this." He was missing the days of fruitfulness -- prey everywhere. Hunting was easy back then and the mountains were easier to tread upon. Now, everything was dry.
"No, not at all. I am not really down to get wet." He shook his head. "You know how it is with long fur -- you'll end up wet longer than you would expect. And I am not really down to get sick right now."
Redheart then realized that he forgot to introduce himself. "It's a shame to meet each other at a time like this, cooped up in this den rather than out in the camp or even on a hunt. I'm Redheart. And you are?"
Wet fur problems? No kidding. The Siberian knew that struggle. "I'm Skyfang. Nice to meet you Redheart.' He stared outside once again. That rain was coming down hard. He knew that hunt he planned was not about to happen anytime soon. "I'm amazed I haven't seen you around before. There aren't exactly many of us." He frowned, continuing to stare out at the storm. A clap of thunder sounded and he jumped slightly. He purred softly, embarrassed.

Skyfang. In all honesty, Redheartt took the time to try to recall. They were about the same age, so perhaps they were in the nursery around the same time then went their own ways? He did not know.
"Once I hit apprenticeship, I mainly kept to myself." He shrugged it off. He was more of a personality who wanted to get to know others rather than just a small talk that would last a few seconds. Not like apprentices who boasted about their training process. "But perhaps we did cross paths before. Probably just never noticed until now."
When the thunder clapped, Redheart was not startled, but Skyfang was. He played it off as if not noticing. "So errmm. What do you usually do when you're stuck in here?"
He was still surprised that he did no know Redheart at all. He would have thought they wold have at least previously met in passing. "Who trained you?" Despite not being that old, being an apprentice felt as if it was ages ago. He felt a bit better once he realized that Redheart did not noticed his reaction to the thunder or at least decided to not say anything. "Well I usually just wait it out, but that frankly gets lonely. It is nice to have someone to talk to." He was appreciative of Redheart's presence here in the den. These storms were a bit scarier and took significantly longer without company.

"I'm not sure if you remember her, but Honeysuckle." Redheart showed no feeling when mentioning his mentor's name. "She was one of those cats who still believed in the warrior code, which was stupid. Died rescuing an elder of another clan in a storm like this." Personally, Redheart was one of those cats who still believed in the good of others, but he was not going to admit that he too wanted to believe in the code. It was too risky nowadays
"And who trained you?" Maybe he would know the name. Probably not.
At the mention of how it was nice to have someone to talk to at a time like this, the warrior nodded. "It really is." He did not know what to say after.
Honeyusuckle. Died following the Warrior Code. A holdout from a time long past. "I do recall her." Skyfang was somewhat of a cynic given that the loss of the Warrior Code made his family abandon him, left him for dead. "With all the cats that died and left the clan I had a couple mentors. My first left the clan right before I could start my training so I ended up with Snowhawk. Trained with Flightfoot." He wondered what his good friend was up to. Maybe in the Leader's Den? As far as he was concerned this storm was problematic. He hoped the den didn't flood.

Multiple mentors. Redheart sort of felt bad for Skyfang. To have a mentor leave the clan right before training. That was stupid. At least it didn't have to confuse Skyfang by learning two different ways of training. At the mention of Flightfoot, Redheart listened more intently.
"How was it? Double training with our current leader?" He did not expect for Lionfur to be a leader for such a short duration. So now Flightfoot was their leader.
"It must be a stressful time for her. Very young to be leading us too."
