The code that barely anyone clung onto and was slowly fading from everyone's minds was disregarded, and so.... Well.... Things were not as lawful as they should be, Foxfeather knew that. Still, she.... Kind of hoped to see Fireclan at least become more cohesive under her time as leader. Even if the clans were at each other's throats, shouldn't Fireclan itself at least cooperate with itself? Okay, yes they sacrificed the youngest first, but.... There really wasn't a better way, even if it was harsh. Foxfeather suddenly didn't really want to answer. She didn't say anything in response. She suddenly stood up. "You feel like hunting? I feel like hunting. It clears the mind." She said, glancing over at fresh-kill pile. "Plus, it's not like it's ever unnecessary to hunt...." She muttered. Viperstrike

He stood up and waited for Foxfeather to do the same, indicating that his answer was yes. He wondered if the prey heap would be smaller by the time they got back. Then it'd feel like their contributions did nothing. That is, if they even had contributions. He waited for her to lead the way, assuming she would want to. Viperstrike hoped they wouldn't run into his sister while they were out. He normally met with her every few days, and it had been a few days since the last time they'd spoken. He shook the thought away.

But at the same time, she didn't really expect him to. Viperstrike didn't seem like the type to pry.... Because he didn't make the effort to. She wasn't sure if that was good or bad. Maybe it was both. That happened sometimes. She rose to her paws, and began crossing the camp to reach the exit of camp, and as she approached the exit, she looked over her shoulder and beckoned Viperstrike to follow with a swing of her tail. Though as soon as she was outside camp, she broke into a run. Admittedly, she loved to run, feeling the air brush past her fur, getting her blood pumping, it was just a great feeling all around. He slipped through the exit of the camp, thankful to get out of there. With both the leader and deputy away, he hoped nothing would go wrong. He watched her race off, and it wasn't long before he was doing the same. Then he caught the distant scent of a hare. He gradually slowed to a halt, beginning to sneak through the dead grass. He wondered if Foxfeather caught the scent, too.

As Viperstrike slowed down, Foxfeather crouched down as well. Though, her sneaking was lighter of step, and speedier. She was trying to as subtly as she can, loop around to see if she could get on the other side of the rabbit. She hoped to trap it between their claws, to hopefully increase their chances of catching the thing. She spotted the thing, and she managed to get it in between herself and Viperstrike. She creeped forward, before she got closer and broke into a full sprint chasing the rabbit straight into Viperstrike's claws. Viperstrike

This should be easy. He prepared himself to kill as he waited for her to draw it closer. It wasn't long before the prey was scrambling right for his claws. Viperstrike lashed out with his paw, pinning the prey to the ground and delivering the fatal bite. He looked up once he was sure it was dead. "Nice work."

Viperstrike efficiently pinned and finished the rabbit. Foxfeather rose and walked over to Viperstrike normally, a sense of victory could be seen glittering in her eyes. "I could say the same to you." Foxfeather half-purred. Then the pleasantries drained from Foxfeather's face, as she gazed off to the side with a strange sort of thoughtfulness. ".... We should bury that and see what else we can catch....." She murmured, though it almost sounded like Foxfeather wasn't actually talking to Viperstrike.... Even if there was no one else she could possibly be talking to. Viperstrike

He didn't think they'd catch anything else, but he began digging a hole anyway. It was leader's orders. He dropped the rabbit and swiftly covered it up with dirt and dead grass. He stood tall, beginning to set off again. He kept his jaws parted as he pushed through the grass, trying to detect any kind of scent.

He dutifully buried the rabbit, and then he went on ahead, trying to pick up a scent. Foxfeather did so as well, but steadily moved so she was ahead of Viperstrike. There wasn't any talking, because it.... Really wasn't the time. They were trying to find whatever they could scrounge up, because every piece of prey counted these days. There was no such thing as surplus of anything.... Unless a surplus of despair counted. Though, right now whatever she was catching were all faint, stale scents that wouldn't lead them to any prey.
