Well, at least Redbird had been able to snap Foxfeather out of her thoughts. She gave herself a mental pat on the back for that!
Although as she kept talking, there were still instances where her leader would fade away again. It reminded Redbird of herself a little bit. She was tempted into la-la-land quite a bit, but usually she could keep herself grounded in conversation (considering she did most of the talking.) What was Foxfeather thinking about? Hopefully she didn't find the queen annoying or something. Maybe she was plotting murder? Or maybe, Foxfeather was just thinking about what was actually being talked about more extensively, because that is waaay more plausible than a pregnant she-cat's murder.
"Yeah," Redbird agreed. Had anything she said even gotten through to her? It wasn't like the two were close. Of course, she shouldn't just assume her words had any meaningful impact on Foxfeather's life.
It was definitely easy to get Redbird to ramble. Especially about being a lazy mother.
"Oh!" the red tabby seem to brighten at the question, genuinely believing that her leader was curious. She gave a bright, cheery smile. And all her worries about the scary Foxfeather were gone in a heartbeat. "It is amazing, Foxfeather! I mean, it's not nearly as exciting as hunting or battling, but there are little moments that are so sweet. I especially love telling the kits stories, and teaching them new things. Their whole worlds seem to light up when they learn new words, or especially when I teach them about the other clans and our traditions." Redbird paused for a moment, contemplating her next words, before she went through with it. "I teach them bits of the warrior code, parts that I myself think are most important. I feel like anything else can be left up to their mentors or the other queens. And with CloudClan, I teach them that as well, though maybe not as well as I should. Since I go back and forth in believing, how I currently stand usually determines how much I teach them. But those are still important for them to know, and it's so cute watching their little faces think about upholding the warrior code, or that their ancestors are possibly watching over them."
"Someday, I really want a whole ton of kittens running around. Too many to count, for sure, but of course I'd know how many!" Redbird purred with pride next, perhaps quickly trying to gloss over her warrior code and CloudClan comments. She didn't know where Foxfeather stood on those subjects. "I love coming up with names in my spare time, which I have a lot of. And to think that my own demon spawn are running around making history is just-- it just makes me so happy!"
{ *knock knock* hello, did fox order a gallon of rambling? just got it in the mail today! }
