A part of Bramblepaw wondered why he even did this to himself. Waking up around the time the dusk patrol returned, accustomed to a light sleep and the sounds of the returning warriors, and dragging his large body out through the dirtplace and into the territory. Just to settle next to the chasm below, and watch with a dull expression as the fireflies danced and the warm wind rippled his long tabby fur. Why did he choose to lose sleep over a view like this, that was no different than any the firefly gathering before? Even if it wasn't every night, just perhaps once a week, it wasn't like this was helping Bramblepaw or his clan.
And yet still, he remained seated comfortably under the cloudless sky, illuminated only by the moonlight, stars, and fireflies about. Bramblepaw, a warrior apprentice of IceClan, watching butt-glowing bugs of all things for a pastime. This wasn't training, or even some form of mind meditation. This was started by a kitten's awe of warm green-leaf nights, and the visitors that came with them, that drew a young apprentice from his den to discover it for himself.
It's the middle of the night. Bramblepaw thought, golden eyes flashing down towards the chasm down below, lit up by a thousand speckles of light zooming about the place. It didn't matter whether one paused in glowing for a moment, since a dozen more were already lit up to take it's shadowy place. It was beautiful, to say the least. I should be asleep. And yet here I am, for no fox-dung reason.
There was a rustle in the ferns behind him. Bramblepaw turned, fur just barely spiking up on his shoulders, and nose breathing in deeply to find a scent. It was much too big to be something like prey. Either a cat or a fox had to be the case, maybe a raccoon though.... Bramblepaw had no idea, but he let out a little warning growl towards the direction. "Who's there?" he demanded quietly, hoping it had just been his imagination.
{ come watch the fireflies with Brambly! still developing his personality, but i got an idea, huehuehue...... }
