nectarbite knew treeclan's territory better than she knew herself. sinew, muscle, and bone pulling together with a rehearsed, mechanical ease, the she-cat wove through the trees less carefully than she should have. she could not see, yet she was utterly aware of everything around her. the quiet rustle of the trees above her, as if the forest was awakening from a slumber seasons long. the expanse of cool earth that sung with the hum of contact as swift paws skimmed the ground. the intoxicating perfume of flora, of fauna, of treeclan she drank with eagerly parted jaws. she knew it all so, so well. yet she never even came close to tiring of it.
nectarbite was too busy running, too busy revelling in her surroundings and not nearly busy enough paying attention to that in her proximity. so busy doing all of this the collision caught her completely off guard. in the instant that she realised she had ran into a cat, and not an inanimate object, heat rushed to her face, so searing it was almost painful. "watch where you're going," she snapped, the words slipping off her tongue cold and laced with something unbearably bitter - if only all to mask her embarrassment.
